It was a long day of hectic air and road travel. From Mumbai to Muscat three hours, Musicat to Salalah three hours and Salallah to Alila Hinu Bay, another two hours. Add to that the stress of immigration and check-in at two airports. I was, both, physically and mentally tired and could only think about crashing on the bed. The scheduled dinner on the itinerary felt like a punishment. But as soon as I entered Alila Hinu Bay’s huge reception, filled with warm lights, interesting trinkets and books, and a soothing water body, my shoulders drooped, the impending headache vanished and the calming scent of frankincense rejuvenated me. I was also suddenly hungry.
Over the next three days of my stay at Alila Hinu Bay, I couldn’t stop admiring all its small and big design elements. Whether it was the earthen pots or the wall pieces made with dried leaves or a mixture of spices in baskets or its many water bodies, gorgeous swimming pools and refreshing and warm decor, it was all perfect to heal one’s body, mind and soul.
The architecture of Alila Hinu Bay is a harmonious blend of modern design with traditional Omani influences. The resort’s design emphasizes sustainability and seamless integration with the surrounding natural landscape, characterized by pristine beaches and hills.
