This beautiful and colourful Kolkata home by Beyond Designs exudes splendor and royalty

A contemporary home detailed with timeless classical features, this luxury Kolkata residence by Beyond Designs is an ode to the harmony of styles and genres in design. An array of patterns, textures, and colours are assembled elegantly resulting in stunning interiors. The meticulous layering of materials and details leads to rich environments replete with a unique character and an invigorating vibe.

The first floor has an L-shaped bar area, a parent’s room, daughter‘s room and her study room, all of which were designed from scratch. 

This luxury residence treats each piece of furniture as a canvas embellishing it with details and accents. We see a fusion of the contemporary and classic everywhere in the house.

Living room: The long corridor is decorated in two phases – closer to the entrance there is a signature console with vintage chairs on either side, a photo gallery sandwiched by wall sconces; and an exquisite brass console with table lamps. A large, heavy-framed mirror completes the look.

Bar area: Rich materials are balanced with natural ones. A modern artwork is juxtaposed with a streamlined sofa. The sofa is upholstered in two different materials –velvet on the inside and printed fabric on the outside. One of the art work on canvas behind the sofa has a wooden frame in antique gold polish, distressed mirror and antique brass rivets. Neutral painted walls contrast with wood panelings on the other side. The wall paneling in black around the bar counter with an inlaid stone top, presents a striking statement with golden accents.

Bedroom: In the adjoining bedroom belonging to the parents, gorgeous leather paneling and fabric cladding on adjacent walls form a luxurious background. Upholstered with velvet and covered in rivets, the curved headboard has a classical touch. 

The antique gold finish of the bedside sconces, golden touches on the night tables, the round-top side table and floor lamp by the corner armchair further add an opulent air. 

Bedroom: Daughter’s room is decorated in an elegant shade of blue, with galleries of pretty framed photographs. A mirror-clad four-post bed touched up with gold polish and a headboard in a shimmery white fabric create a luminous space. A carved wooden sofa upholstered in paisley fabric, night tables, a TV unit in white complete the rest of the furniture.

Study room: Daughter’s study room has a wooden wall unit covered in a bright printed fabric and shutters with antique brass rivets. The wooden study table,which has brass elements, is finished in black matt PU, while the wooden chairs,which have wicker mesh on the backs,are painted in a bright yellow.

Powder room: An intricate, antique-inspired chandelier in a corner lights up a gorgeous powder room done up in red and natural stone with heavy framed mirrors covering the vanity.

Master bedroom: A four-post bed finished in antique gold lends a regal touch to the master bedroom, while wicker mesh paneling with matt PU finish in white on the walls keeps the background natural. The bedside tables in red with decorative knobs offer a perfect contrast. And the opposite wall decorated in wooden frames and distressed mirror art works adds to the luxury of the room. Grand chandeliers with black matt powder coating and crystal hangings on either side further accentuate the symmetry of the room.

The window corner forms a cosy seating area in the master bedroom. The accessories like wall scones in cast brass, antique wooden artwork mounted on a frame with brass borders, a table lamp in glass with antique brass shade – lends their own quiet presence to the space. 

A walk through this luxury residence is like experiencing an elegant contemporary palace brimming with design details.
