From being a film director to a published author and a doting dad, Karan Johar wears many hats. He has now manifested his love for bling, gold and trinkets into an exciting business. He launched a jewellery brand Tyaani Fine Jewellery, on August 24, which has Polki jewellery – earrings, bracelets,  crafted in 22kt gold and uncut diamonds. Here’s everything you must know about Johar’s newest venture.
Karan Johar launched the brand on Instagram, calling it an extension of his personality and his love for shiny objects. “They are jewels that beauty is made up of. That gloss and glamour and grandeur, it has the perfect element of shine, that polki is just stunning!” said Karan Johar in a statement released to the media. “The Indian art form (Polki) remains untapped,” he added.
In recent times, Polki jewellery has sparked interest amongst young buyers, jewellers and independent designers. Johar’s venture wants to make Polki cool, not just for bridal jewellery but also for everyday wear. “I want to see a young woman sport chandbalis with a classic black dress or drops with their jeans and t-shirts. Literally, from the boardroom to brunch to bridal, it has to cover the entire gamut,” says Johar
Tyaani’s launch collection has handcrafted necklaces, bracelets, pendants, maang tikkas, jhumkas and multi-hued chandbalis starting from Rs10,000. And its models are Madhuri Dixit, Kriti Sanon and Janhvi Kapoor.
Karan Johar’s jewellery is available at the brand’s stores in Delhi, Hyderabad and Mumbai and also on its online store.
“I wanted to create an online platform dedicated to Polki jewellery that could reach people who wanted to shop from the comfort of their homes.  A young, dynamic brand, at par with global trends and way ahead of the fashion curve. Something that imbibes our classic values with an eclectic twist,” says Johar.
